I’ve been fortunate enough to have a few months of down time from my job this year. One of the primary goals I made for using this time productively was to get back in shape. I’ve been in good shape at various times in my life, but let myself go over the last couple of years. Fortunately I checked out Infinity Fitness and joined the Body Transformation Challenge that started in January. I lost 8 pounds during the challenge. I then joined the April challenge, and really felt a difference by the end of that challenge. I lost 6 pounds more, for a total loss of almost 15 pounds since the beginning of the year. When I started team training back in January, I could barely finish some of the workout sets. By May, I was pushing myself hard and did well in the Infinity’s Fittest competition. I don’t want to lose the feeling of fitness and good health, so I have now joined the gym as a member.
More importantly, my wife saw the impact that training at Infinity has had on me, so she has now jumped into Infinity, too. We are a good influence on each other for getting to classes, even though we have a strict rule not to go at the same time.
Infinity is unlike any other gym. The trainers know you by name and push you hard. It is literally painful for the first few weeks, but payoff is tangible. You can see the progress as you push harder each week in the training classes. But be warned – if you really put an effort into it, you will end up having to buy new clothes because the old ones will be too big.
I hadn’t been to a gym since before I was pregnant with my 2 years ago. For so many years, I was overweight and out of shape and embarrassed of the way I look. My children are my priority and I always put their needs and their happiness before my own which meant, for so many years, no time for workouts. Needless to say, I was insecure about my appearance, but didn’t know how to fit a workout into my already busy day.
This past December, my 9 year old daughter was participating in a 5K and she asked me to run with her. Not having worked out for so long, I knew that I had to do something to wake up my body prior to the 5K so I wouldn’t completely embarrass myself. I happened to see a Groupon for Infinity Fitness and purchased it out of convenience. I had no expectations coming to the gym. My whole plan was to do prep for the 5K. Well, after my first day, I couldn’t walk, but I felt like I really accomplished something and the important thing was I went back. I didn’t quit. I worked out for 2 weeks before the run and was sore EVERY DAY, but continued and ran and finished the 5K in 36 minutes. Not too bad.
After the run, I caught a terrible cold, it was Christmas and my 4 year old was home from preschool on break, so I again didn’t workout. I was full of excuses. After all the trouble and aches and pains of starting a physical fitness routine, I decided it would be a waste to just stop, so I didn’t. On January 2 to the gym to use the last 2 days of my Groupon and I realized that this is what I need to do to change myself. I participated in a 6 week weight loss challenge the gym offered in January and I won. I lost 15 pounds in 6 weeks! I have never had such dramatic results so quickly and I was motivated to keep going. I made working out a priority and changed the way I eat. 30 pounds later, I am proof that it can be done. I make sure to get to the gym at least 3 times a week, I eat better and make healthier choices for myself and my family.
I not only have lost 30 pounds, but I have gone from a size 12 to a size 6 and am ready for bathing suit season. I have done every type of exercise class under the sun, step, sculpt, kickbox, spin and I have never had the results that I have had from working out at Infinity Fitness. In just 45 minutes I do a complete workout and I am slimmer, healthier and stronger for it.
The benefit of a membership to Infinity Fitness is that every workout is a workout with a personal trainer. It is a group class, but each class is led by a trainer that is educated and experienced in physical fitness and not just educated in some new trendy cardio class. All of the trainers are personable, not intimidating and are genuinely interested in helping each client achieve their goals.
I recommend Infinity Fitness to anyone and everyone that will listen to me. It not only helped transform my waistline, but I am healthier and happier and no longer hide behind people in pictures. Getting to the gym and getting into a routine is hard, but once I made a commitment it is now just a part of who I am. If I can do it, anyone can, so I say, go for it!
I’ve been training at Infinity Fitness for over a year now. Before training I had general cardio fitness, but lacked core strength and was somewhat jaded with gym visits. Now I feel younger and fitter and I’m much more motivated to visit the gym. I definitely like the variety of exercises that we do and the sense of progress that I get. I would definitely tell anyone thinking of trying it out to go for it! You will surprise yourself.
At Infinity my trainer never uses the same workout; he always mixes it up and keeps it interesting. He just knows how much weight I can handle and encourages me to lift what I’m capable of. I’m 51 and my bone density is that of a 20 year old! No more back pain, either. I’m treated like a real person, not just an old middle-aged mommy.
Hi. I’m a mother of 2 young girls living in Darien. I got my first taste of freedom this summer going to Dave’s bootcamp while my girls were in camp.
I am 100% addicted to this class! The first 2-3 classes I left here thinking “what am I doing here?!” I’m not strong enough to be here. I couldn’t do 1 full sit-up and I did push-ups on my knees. But I stuck with it – thru motivation from Dave and support from the other women in the class. In 7 weeks, my core, arm and leg strength is the best it’s been in my life (and I’ve always been an athlete). I can now do 15 full sit-ups, multiple times and I can do 30 push ups not using my knees.
My favorite part of bootcamp is the multiple sets we do, mixing in different equipment to strengthen every body part. Each class is totally different so you don’t get bored. And learning that there’s many ways to strengthen your stomach other than doing a sit-up. It’s creative, intense and lots of fun!
It’s built my overall confidence and my husband compliments my figure regularly – it’s great!
I have been doing bootcamp for over three months and love it. Each workout that Dave designs is different. He finds unique ways to target all of your muscle groups and you leave feeling like you worked hard. There are no mirrors on the wall which is a huge plus as other gyms tend to have too many. I started going one day a week, but love it so much that sometimes I am there three days a week.
