One of the worse things we can be in life is average, mediocre, normal. I think that when you are capable of being great that settling for just okay is a disservice to yourself, your friends, and your family.
One of the ways that we get trapped into accepting mediocrity is by isolating incidents.
When you think it’s no big deal to sleep in and not workout today, that you get a do-over tomorrow, or that you can eat whatever you want today because you will start your diet Monday – does any of this sound familiar?
Bad news: Nothing can be further from the truth.
There is real impact and real consequence to each of your choices, actions, even thoughts – and it’s huge!
Every single thought, choice, and action will actually determine who you are becoming.
Let that sink in for a second.
You see, every time you do the easy thing instead of the right thing, you are shaping your identity, becoming the type of person who does what’s easy instead of what’s right.
And the more that you do that the more effortless it will become to continue in that direction.
Good news: The opposite is true as well.
When you do what is right instead of what is easy then you are developing discipline and the more you do that the more effortless it will be to do what is right – what is right for you, your health, your fitness, your self.
So stop isolating incidents and start seeing the bigger picture, realizing that everything you do, think, and decide upon will shape who you are
