Holidays are coming! The magical time of year when everyone reflects on all the good things in their lives and spends time with the people they care about most.
And they eat a lot. Like a real lot. The average American will gain 5-7lbs from Thanksgiving to New Years!
Here are my six tips to not starting the New Year with your jeans stretched to the max
1) Realize that there are actually only four days that throw you off your routine. Own up to the fact that there are four holidays and just because it’s the month of December doesn’t give you the right to pig out and put on five to seven pounds like most people do.
2) Stay on your routine
As I said above there’s really four main holidays and yeah there might be some travel in-between but for the most part you have to stay on your routine that you’re on for the rest of the year. It’s pointless to take big steps back during the holidays and then take the next two or three months trying to lose the weight that you packed on.
If you know you’re going to have busy travel times to see family or host family events then you what you should do is add in some extra work outs before and after getting back from your trips.
3) Going crazy on the holiday
We’ve identified that there’s four holidays that you will be getting together with family and having all sorts of food, desserts and wine, but there still isn’t a good reason to stuff yourself to the point where you’re in a food coma.
Have some of your favorite foods and desserts and call it a day.
Eating for the sake of eating is gluttony.
4) Prep yourself for parties
Get ready for all those Holiday Parties by eating something healthy beforehand. Have an apple or celery dipped in peanut butter… really anything that has lots of fiber and that will fill you up before you go out to an event.
The fiber will help you feel satiated and as a result you will feel a lot less hungry and eat less “bad” foods.
5) Make sure you’re on a good plan to start
If you aren’t on an actual exercise routine you obviously aren’t going to be able to stick to one! So make sure you’re on an actual exercise routine and if you need help with one then that’s when you come in to see me.
