“Carol! Did you shrink my jeans?!?”
“No hun you just gained weight”
How the hell didn’t my jeans fit? I couldn’t believe it.
You see, if you’ve known me for a while you know I’ve always lifted weights and done strength training in the past, and more recently was doing a lot of running last year.
It kept me strong and lean, but never really packed on muscle.
So this Winter I decided to go down that road. Here’s why…
I’ll tell you a secret, I don’t really like running all that much. Its a love hate relationship at best.
But I felt that as a fitness professional I had to put myself though that training and see how well I could condition my body using my own training protocol.
Its just something I felt I should experience to be able to help others with similar goals afterwards. I didn’t want to be a “textbook trainer” who knows the right info, but has never experienced the actual training.
I decided to build up my muscles for the same reason.
But I had gone too far … my diet had “loosened up” in my quest to build the bulk.
Which leads me back to the beginning of the story …. Crap.
I knew that things had gone far enough and it was time to shed some of the chub that had crept up on me.
I knew the diet and workout routine I wanted to follow, but it was a bit tough to always find the time to plan out my meals.
You see, I’ve got this business I spend lots of my time on …. you might have heard of it? Infinity Fitness?
I know, what a crappy excuse, you’re too busy? C’mon! Everyone is busy.
Be honest though, if your diet isn’t great what’s the real reason behind it?
Most people know that brocolli and chicken breast is healthy, but when it comes time to eat have they prepared any brocolli or chicken breast ready to go? No, they’ve prepared nothing because they are busy with their day and now they are hungry and end up eating ‘what’s around’.
Well 9 times out of 10 what’s around isn’t the best choice.
I knew I needed to eat right if I wanted to make any serious progress so I decided to try something different. Something I hadn’t done before and was hesitant to try in the past.
I got food delivered to my house.
Its called the Meal Movement and its a fresh take on the tired old meal delivery system.
It was portions of fresh veggies, lean meats, and healthy snacks that were freeze dried and overnighted to my house.
The package arrived and it was huge! Over 50lbs of veggies, chicken breasts, steaks, almonds.
The food tasted pretty good and I loved the fact that I could go about my day and within a couple minutes have a healthy meal prepped and ready.
I made sure to include my wife Carol too. I think she liked that she didn’t have to cook for a while…
You pretty much just follow the diet they give you and, when combined with the right workout routine (like say … going to BootCamp?) you lose fat.
I like simple.
So what was the end result?
Well so far I’ve lost 11lbs, Carol is down 4lbs and we’re getting lean and mean before we head down to Miami for a week.
Now I’m not going to say this is the best thing ever and everyone should do it for the rest of their lives.
Eventually you have to work time to plan your healthy meals into your day, but if you want to jumpstart fat loss and get yourself on a focused and dialed in diet?
Its perfect for that.
I had to share my little secret with you guys, it wouldn’t be fair if I didn’t fess up and told everyone they had to make time in their schedule for food prep when I wasn’t!
I can tell you how I packed on a lot of muscle in short order … 6 days a week lifting weights for 1.5-2 hours at a time, eat a LOT and make sure you get your sleep.
And now you know how I lost a decent amount of fat in short order as well.
